MA Fashion Film & Photography Faculty Presents New Exhibition

We are excited to announce that faculty member Ali Ghorbani Moghaddam will be exhibiting his work in “Photography is Fashion” at Lab27 in Treviso, Italy opening Friday, April 18 at 9 PM.
Bringing together Ali’s work with that of Memymom and Alexandre Furcolin Filho, the show explores how photography and fashion intersect in today’s media-saturated world—questioning identity, image culture, and the power of visual storytelling. “Photography is Fashion,” looks at the connection between two distinctive and complementary phenomena of contemporary society. Just as we have witnessed the rise of image production in society as a direct reflection of an increasingly individualistic ethos, fashion has also evolved. Fashion is no longer merely a garment that fulfills the functional or social needs of the body; it has evolved into a tool for self-expression, shaping one’s identity, and enabling individuals to feel connected to a global visual discourse. In this context, photography becomes the attire of the individual, a reflection and testimony of their image, serving an ego that is increasingly diverse and multifaceted.
Ali Ghorbani Moghaddam is a Persian fashion and art photographer whose work challenges conventional beauty standards and aesthetic norms through bold, non-conformist imagery. By blending analog and digital techniques, he explores the relationship between photography and fashion, embracing imperfection, glitch, and visual distortion. His practice invites viewers to question constructed realities, positioning fashion photography as a space for experimentation, reflection, and reimagined perception.
Lab27 is a cultural space in Treviso, Italy, dedicated to photography and visual arts, offering exhibitions, educational programs, and fostering dialogue among diverse visual cultures. Steve Bisson is the artistic director of Lab27 and co-founded the international program Blurring the Lines, which supports academic dialogue and rewards thesis work in photography and visual arts.
