Mobile Week Barcelona 2019
For the third year running, the world’s mobile capital will host a complete programme featuring over 80 of its own activities and more than de 50 collaborator institutions spread over 60 public venues in the city and with the presence of more than 100 speakers. For yet another year, the initiative will involve the active participation of Barcelona City Council and a further 200 collaborators, local institutions, innovation areas, research and scientific centres, and others, and will be consolidated as a crosscutting project in the city.
Mobile Week Barcelona is back with a programme divided into four different activity formats: mWeek CONFERENCES, an open meeting place for reflection; mWeek WORKSHOPS, participatory and inclusive experiences about the digital world; mWeek EXHIBITION, 14 artistic creations selected for this edition that will be on display for a month at Disseny Hub Barcelona; and mWeek FAMILIES, in a technological environment in which children, young people, adults and mentors explore, investigate, make mistakes and create together.
The exhibition has proposals from 10 international digital artists: Miguel Soliman López Cortez, Martin Nadal and César Escudero, María Castellanos and Alberto Valverde, Adriana Tamargo and Guillermo Escribano, Karin Fischnaller, Ivar Veermäe, Monica Rikić, Martina Solés Caldés, Fidel García and Albert Barqué-Duran. The selection of works has been carried out by a specialized jury formed, among others, by Lívia Nolasco-Rózsás de ZKM and Rosa Ferré, director of Matadero Madrid.
This year’s creations reflect on Artificial Intelligence, the power of bitcoins, the influence of social networks on the media or the impact of robots on society. At the end of the exhibition, one of the works will be chosen to be exhibited at the MNAC (National Art Museum of Catalunya.)
