MA students meet Miles Aldridge in his studio

MA Fashion Film & Photography students meet Miles Aldridge in his studio and visit London College of Fashion during a field trip in the UK.

MFFP student Alexandra Hehlen shares the highlights of that experience:

“We were so fortunate to visit Miles Aldridge’s studio on our trip to London. In just two hours we learned so much!

Not only did we get to see the photographer’s studio, but we also witnessed his thought process.

Amid stacks of books and negatives, Miles explained the current mood board he had thumbtacked into the wall, discussing his references and inspirations.

I also loved seeing so many of his prints. Miles is an icon in fashion photography not just because he takes beautiful, cinematic photos but also because he is pushing the limits of printmaking. He explained to us print processes that never knew were possible and inspired us to question how we see our own photographs coming to life beyond the screen.”

Miles Aldridge (born 1964 in London) is one of Britain’s most celebrated fashion photographers. His photographs are frequently published in international publications such as The New York Times, Vogue Italia, American Vogue,Time, The New Yorker, Numero. His work is in the permanent collections of the V&A Museum, London, The National Portrait Gallery, London and The International Centre of Photography, New York City.
