LEAVING A MARK

Foundation student, Mariana Folache ’25 of Madrid, speaks of energy, space & legacy. William MacKendree, former PCA faculty, taught Folache’s mother when she studied here, & this helped Folache “figure out a path for my career & why I am here today.” When asked what most excited her about studying in Paris, Folache stated, “Past, present, future. I feel that by studying art in Paris, you’re always in dialogue with this path of art within the city. Paris has been one of the most explosive cities with art & I believe it will continue to be this way. I think being here & seeing what all those great artists produced, walk along the same boulevards as Baudelaire or Picasso already makes you want to strive for more, to leave a mark for the future, to inspire someone like they inspired us.”

Folache’s tell us more about herself and why choosing PCA, and studying in Paris is so important.

What do you hope to learn from Foundation?

Everything and anything. I feel like studying art is all about exploration within your brand and style as an artist and to develop skills for the future. There’s not a day I come to class and not learn a new thing, I find that very refreshing.

What excites you most about your Foundation/Pathways program at PCA?

I loved this freedom of ideas and it’s all about exploration and evolution. I loved this year, I think it’s a very needed base before you start specialising yourself.

What program are you moving into at PCA next?

I’m focusing towards Fine Arts

Folache is featured the February Edition of the LOOP newsletter focused on our Foundation and Pathway program at PCA.
