What you’ll learn: Overview of the rich artistic and historical tradition of Paris from the Middle Ages to the present day through dynamic visits to various cultural and historical sites; solid visual literacy regarding major artists and periods of art history; interpretation of art in relation to historical, political, social, technological, and cultural contexts

Where you’ll visit:  Musée Cluny, Musée Jacquemart-André, Musée du Louvre, Arc de Triomphe and the Champs-Elysées, the Cathedral of Notre Dame, the University of the Sorbonne, the Pantheon, the Luxembourg Gardens, Palais Royal, Opera Garnier, Tuileries garden, Place de la Concorde, Musée d’Orsay, Grand Palais and the Petit Palais, Centre Pompidou, Musée Picasso, and more…

Course highlight: Students will learn to read with their eyes and experience works of art in person, analyzing various complex artworks; visiting historic sites, monuments, and museums; and considering the city’s remarkable urban development and contributions to architecture and design

Prerequisites: A good pair of walking shoes!
