Introduction to Augmented Reality

What you’ll learn
This course teaches students how to merge the physical and digital worlds using augmented reality, 3D scanning, and 3D printing. Through hands-on experimentation, students will learn to digitize physical objects, create interactive spatial experiences, and transform their concepts into AR or 3D-printed artworks. They will explore storytelling, sculpture, and interaction design while developing technical skills with beginner-friendly digital tools. By the end of the course, students will be able to produce and present an original hybrid artwork, articulating both their creative process and artistic concept.
Places You May Explore
Students will immerse themselves in Parisian cultural and urban environments to inspire and source assets for their projects. Visits to major museums such as Musée Rodin, Musée du Louvre, Musée d’Orsay, Centre Pompidou, and Palais de Tokyo will provide exposure to classical and contemporary art.
Supplies
While PCA provides the essential tools for the class to run, students provide their own supplies. A list of required materials will be shared on the summer student portal before the start of the program. Expenses for supplies are estimated at between €30 to €150.
