HCA x PCA: La Dérive

The event showcased a fusion of art and technology, likely using mapping projections to transform a space with visually immersive displays. The name “La Dérive” references a concept from the Situationist movement that means “drift” or “drifting,” often used to describe a spontaneous journey through an environment, especially urban spaces, to discover new meanings and perspectives.
The mapping projection also involved visual narratives of student work, dynamic graphics, and an experimental approach to engaging with the audience. It proved to be a unique artistic experience that aligns with the goals of both PCA and the HCA Foundation Programs in supporting innovative and interdisciplinary art.
We would also like to extend our thanks to Bonobithi Biswas and Gresham Cash, current students in our MFA Transdisciplinary New Media program, for their significant contributions to this project. Bonobithi led the projection mapping, video editing, and filmmaking elements, while Gresham managed the live sound mixing throughout the event.
In Hereford, UK, the projection was displayed at the Hereford Cathedral and at PCA in Paris, on the terrace.
