Gaby David is an Uruguayan/French researcher and university lecturer.

Education
She holds a Ph.D. in visual sociology from the Center for Art History and Theory at the Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales, Paris (EHESS), a Master’s degree in teaching English (TEFL), and a Masters in Fine Arts from the University of Paris 8. With an approach at the intersection of the visual culture, sociology of culture, and mobile culture, Gaby studies and analyses the construction of meanings through an analysis of the vernacular uses and practices of the mobile online image.

Work Experience
As a researcher, she is an active member of the “Mobile Creation” group from IRCAV, Institute for Film and Audiovisual Research at the Sorbonne Nouvelle. In addition, and as an anglisist, Gaby is also affiliated to TransCrit, Transferts critiques anglophones, at the University of Paris 8. She is part of the executive board of the International Association of Visual Sociology, which awarded her thesis as one of the three best theses of 2016.

She has participated in several international conferences, contributed to numerous books, and published articles in specialized academic journals both in English and French. She has been teaching for more than 20 years (in the private sector) and more than ten years in various departments and universities in Paris. Her courses are participatory and interdisciplinary, dealing with topics intrinsic to visual culture and everyday life.

She has lived in Uruguay, the USA, Israel, and France.
