Sofía Fernández-García

Education

Sofia earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Photography from the University of Colorado Denver in 2021 and completed her MFA in Photography and Image-Making from the Paris College of Art in May 2024.

Teaching experience

Sofia has conducted numerous photographic workshops specializing in alternative processes for the Paris College of Art, Istituto Italiano di Fotografia, and Lycée Edgar-Poe. Before embarking on her career in fine art photography, Sofia was a professional dancer and performer. Since 2015, she has been teaching ballet, salsa, hip hop, jazz, and contemproary to both children and adults.

Exhibitions

Sofia’s work has been showcased in exhibitions at the Bastille Design Center and Paris College of Art in Paris, France; 3CS Art Collective in Lyons, Colorado; Colorado Photographic Arts Center in Denver, Colorado; PRPG.MX in Mexico City, Mexico; FAVA Gallery in Oberlin, Ohio; Cotuit Center for the Arts in Cotuit, Massachusetts; Remarque Print Workshop in Albuquerque, New Mexico; Emmanuel Gallery in Denver, Colorado; Pirate Contemporary Art in Lakewood, Colorado; Las Lagunas Gallery in Laguna Beach, California; and the Barrett Art Center in Poughkeepsie, New York. Additionally, her sculpture was installed in the Arts Building of the University of Colorado Denver from 2021 to 2022. In Spring 2024, Sofia was selected to represent the Paris College of Art through the PCA/Terra Foundation of American Art Research Program, where she conducted research under the guidance of Barbara Montefalcone, Chair of the Liberal Studies Department. Sofia presented her findings to art history students from Université Paris Nanterre at the Terra Foundation Center in Paris.
