Artistic Practice
Matas Moris’ film and video works have been shown internationally.  She writes, shoots, edits, and performs her works. Her videos delve into the representation of the ‘other’ through the self, harnessing the act of self-representation as a political act. Matas Moris’s work departs from personal experience and expands into global issues of exile, displacement, and gender. Humour, intimacy, and the absurd come together in her narratives, told from the perspective of the ‘outsider’ confronted with a ludicrous reality. Matas Moris’s approach to art films and her treatment of imagery and sound obtained from the internet positions her work in an ironic confrontation with mainstream cinema.
