Professional Experience / Research
Based in the Design & Screen Cultures (D&SC) Teaching and Research group, School of Design.
Teaching and research focus: how people design, make and mediate the world, with implications for social and ecological relations.
Philosophical grounding in phenomenology; uses collaborative methods including academic writing, drawing, photography, and making.
Research interests: perception and shaping of the world through surfaces, intersections of form (object, texture, weave) with politics, race, and ecology.
Led the Design Anthropology theme within the ERC FP7 grant Knowing From the Inside (KFI): Anthropology, Art, Architecture and Design.

Design Issues (journal, MIT) — article “Designing Environmental Relations,” also translated and published in Chinese.
