Paris College of Art is proud to announce Fine Arts alumna Jaime Campbell, Class of 2024, as this year’s recipient of the Jury Honors Award. Established in 2023, this annual award recognizes a graduating student whose commitment and talent shine through in their final degree project. Jaime’s exceptional body of work, Disrupted Landscapes, was featured in her jury defense and the May 2024 Degree Exhibition, Symbiosis, held at the Bastille Design Center in Paris. Her work stands out for its insightful examination of human impact on the natural world, her innovative use of found materials, and her dedication to raising environmental awareness through art.
In recognition, PCA has published a comprehensive catalogue of Disrupted Landscapes, now available on our website and social media channels. This catalogue celebrates Jaime’s creative achievements and serves as a testament to her dedication, perseverance, and artistic evolution.
Jaime’s journey into art was profoundly influenced by her rural upbringing in Canada, which fostered a deep connection to nature. This background inspired her focus on environmental themes, and Disrupted Landscapes vividly reflects the consequences of human interference with nature. By blending traditional materials like wool with synthetic elements, Jaime creates textured works that highlight the tension between the natural and artificial. A standout piece in her series, Plastic Sediment I, incorporates materials like cotton and melted plastic to illustrate contamination, underscoring the ecological themes central to her work. Through Disrupted Landscapes, Jaime shares a powerful vision that explores humanity’s impact on natural landscapes.
We invite you to delve into Disrupted Landscapes by exploring the full catalogue online. Through the catalogue, you can connect with Jaime’s exploration of environmental issues, experiencing her reflections on the vulnerability and resilience of nature firsthand.
