Street Photography and Fashion Week

What you’ll learn

In this intensive summer program, you’ll develop the core skills and creative instincts essential to street style fashion photography during one of the world’s most influential fashion events—Haute Couture Paris Fashion Week. Through hands-on instruction, you’ll learn to work confidently with natural and artificial light, master compositional techniques, and capture compelling portraits in fast-moving public environments. You’ll also gain experience approaching and directing real people on the street, evaluating scenes quickly, and making intuitive technical decisions under pressure. By the end of the course, you’ll understand the full workflow of street style photography—from on-location shooting to beauty retouching and post-production—culminating in a polished digital portfolio that showcases your personal visual style.

Places you may explore

As part of your on-location workshops, you’ll photograph in some of Paris’s most iconic and fashion-forward neighborhoods. Expect to move through stylish districts such as the Marais, the elegant arcades and gardens of Palais Royal, and the vibrant streets surrounding major Fashion Week venues. During live show days, you’ll work outside runway presentations across the city, where designers, models, editors, and influencers gather—offering unmatched opportunities to document authentic street style moments as they unfold. From historic boulevards to contemporary fashion hubs, the city becomes your creative studio as you build professional-grade imagery in the heart of the global fashion scene.

Supplies

While PCA provides the essential tools for the class to run, students provide their own supplies. A list of required materials will be shared on the summer student portal before the start of the program. Expenses for supplies are estimated at between €30 to €150.

Prerequisites

This course is designed for students with a basic understanding of digital photography and an interest in fashion or visual storytelling. You should feel comfortable operating a DSLR or hybrid digital camera and be ready to work collaboratively in fast-paced, public environments. No advanced technical knowledge is required—just curiosity, commitment, and a willingness to experiment.
