MA Fashion Film and Photography almuna Alma Rosaz shares her experience interning for Rick Owens during their June 2017 men’s Paris Fashion Week!

Why did you want to do this internship?
I wanted to do this internship as I was curious about the behind the scenes of fashion shows and showrooms.

Can you describe your responsibilities during the internship?
For the fashion show, I distributed the goody bags underneath the guests’ seats and verified the logistics of the show with the team e.g. walking on the runway in order to test if the scaffolding was stable, distributing fans and water as the heat was intense.

During the showroom, I was responsible of making sure the ‘Dark Shadow’ collection on the second floor was in place, in order and well presented, and made sure the clients and sellers had enough refreshments. I also assisted on a photoshoot ensuring the photography team had the right garments needed for their shoot. The last few days we were responsible for packing the collections in an organized manner (clothes, bags, and accessories inside their initial shipping boxes.)

Has this internship experience influenced your thoughts about your career?
It was a very enriching experience and I think I would like to help on a photoshoot similar to the one I had during this internship.

What did you gain from your internship?
Sense of collaboration and team work.

Would you recommend this internship to another student?
Yes! Totally! The team – our manager, the staff, the cooks, all the assistants – were ALL very nice and professional. They always asked us if we needed anything, any breaks etc. Sometimes we were even ‘forced’ to go on breaks as they really looked after us. This was the best internship I have experienced so far.

Congratulations Alma! Check out more of her work on her website.
