From PCA to PCA! An Interactive Skype Session in Experimental Drawing

pca-to-pca-1454436383

Last Thursday, January 21, the Experimental Drawing class led by Foundation Chair Chloe Briggs held an interactive skype session with students from Plymouth College of Arts.

Student from each PCA readied a large blank sheet, drawing materials and took turns directing each other’s drawings.

Instructions consisted of actions like: use your non-dominant hand to draw an arc, draw a straight line from you to the other side, press the charcoal as hard as you can on the paper, smudge the drawing on your left, make a geometric shape, think of an emotion and draw it for 10 seconds, step across the piece of paper.

The results were beautiful and energetic, the two PCAs will mail off their unfixed drawings to each other, so the journey itself will distort the drawings.
