PCA Fine Arts and Fashion departments are collaborating with Les Ateliers d’Aubusson during the Spring 2017 semester. Les Ateliers d’Aubusson creates modern tapestries inspired by the Aubusson designs that have adorned many castles around the world for more than six centuries. In between tradition and modernity, they see their designs as pieces of jewelry.
The ‘Contemporary Tapestry Project’ will be a contest and the two winning students with the best designs will collaborate further with Les Ateliers d’Aubusson.
The final design will be produced in the Les Ateliers d’Aubusson workshop and sold exclusively in their stores and online platform.
A first brief was held in early February during which students and a Les Ateliers d’Aubusson representative met for the first time.
Today, students met with the representative to present their work in progress and received feedback.
A jury will select the winning project on April 5, 2017.
