MTNM Lunch Talk Presents: Rute Rosas

Rute Rosas works as a professor at the Department at the Fine Arts at the University of Porto (FBAUP) in Porto, Portugal. Rosas has been working at FBAUP since 1999. At FBAUP, Rosas created the courses on Textiles, Art and Space, and Scenography. Currently, she acts as the Coordinator of the Master’s degree in Fine Arts – Sculpture (MAP- E).

Rosas holds a PhD in Art and Design and specializes her Fine Art practice in sculpture. She also holds a Master of Art degree in Multimedia Art, as well as a Bachelor of Fine Art in sculpture. She has received training in digital sound, digital imaging, lost wax casting, polyester resins, glass techniques, fabric arts and techniques, and classical ballet. Her work focuses on the theme of self-censorship as a procedural poetic agent of sculptural creation.

Since 1996, Rosas has been part of multiple exhibitions, in which she has not only participated, but has conceived and organized. Not only has she worked with exhibitions, but she has engaged in numerous events, such as collective exhibitions, workshops, courses, lectures and conferences in several countries, and production and realization of scenographies.

Rute Rosas has received awards and distinctions and her work is represented in numerous institutions and private collections in Portugal, Spain, Italy, England, Canada and Brazil.
