Nada Debeaumont, Foundation Student, on her Internship at ASVOFF - A Shaded View on Fashion Film

Nada Debeaumont at ASVOFF

Nada had the occasion to intern for ASVOFF (A Shaded View On Fashion Film), having Lily Templeton as a supervisor. PCA interviewed her about the experience:

Why did you want to do this internship and did it live up to your expectations?

I wanted to do this internship to get a broader view of the professional fashion world. It is great, as a student, to be able to get outside of school and experience a different environment: you gain a lot of knowledge about the industry, you meet many people that help you build up your connections for the future, and you are given responsibilities, which I personally like.

Can you describe your responsibilities during the internship?

During this internship, I was assisting Lily Templeton in the organisation of the ASVOFF festival. I had to take care of the guest lists, welcome the jury and VIPs, manage the organisation of the site.

Has this internship experience influenced your thoughts about your career?

As a prospective fashion student, it’s always great to do internships related to the fashion industry. I’ve already worked in showrooms during Fashion Week, but this time it was a different environment, as it was more focused towards the media side of Fashion. I’m looking forward to doing more like this in order to get an even broader view of the industry.

What did you gain from your internship?

I learnt how to manage and organize a space efficiently. The social part was really important as well, as I had to welcome people, guide them and help them with any eventual problem they’d have. I also met many many people (designers, photographers, critics…), which is always exciting. I got to know some of them more and learnt from their experience in the industry. Working in a team was also a key element, as we were a few interns working altogether.

Would you recommend this internship to another student?

I would definitely recommend this internship for people who are interested in getting out there to experience a different, more professional and concrete world. Getting to attend all the afterparties and events, and meeting Jean Paul Gaultier was also a major plus!!
