We recently spoke with Nico Silberfaden, a PCA photo faculty member who will be publishing a monograph of his work next month.

PCA What was the last pic you took with your phone? (be honest)
NS A photo frame.

PCA Who or what is your favorite subject to photograph?
NS Flowers

PCA If tomorrow you woke up in the body of someone else, who would it be?
NS Robert Adams!

PCA What is your next project?
NS My next project will be about a flower market in Los Angeles, where I have been photographing for almost 6 years. Until now all my projects have to do with the idea of place; about belonging and longing. My book, which comes out in a couple of weeks, is titled 738.

PCA Tell us more about your work.
NS In this past year I have not only gained valuable experience teaching but I have also accomplished some new feats in my artistic practice. After finishing my project 738 (series of images from Los Angeles) I have recently landed a book deal with Kettler Verlag, my first monograph will be coming out in November for Paris Photo. During the year I took part in a two person exhibition at the MARQ in Buenos Aires. This fall semester, together with the book launch I will be having two shows of my work in Paris and Marseille.

For those of you who can’t wait for the book to come out, you can see some of Nico’s works in California California, at the Galerie RueVisconti, 21 rue Visconti, 75006 PARIS
