What you’ll learn

This Fashion Illustration course immerses you in the artistic energy of Paris. You will learn to create fashion illustrations inspired by iconic landmarks and masterpieces, from Monet’s Water Lilies to the Louvre’s glass pyramid, the Tuileries Gardens, the Palais Royal, and contemporary art and fashion exhibitions.
You will build strong fundamentals in proportion, silhouette, and movement while developing your own creative style. Through hands-on practice with pastels, charcoal, watercolor, ink, collage, gouache, embroidery, and digital tools, you will explore a wide range of techniques and discover the full potential of fashion illustration.

Places you may explore

Tuileries Gardens, Louvre Museum, Palais Royal, Musée de l’Orangerie, fabric stores, and a variety of fashion and art exhibitions available throughout the duration of the course.

Supplies

While PCA provides the essential tools for the class to run, students provide their own supplies. A list of required materials will be shared on the summer student portal before the start of the program. Expenses for supplies are estimated at between €30 to €150.

Course Highlights

Discover fashion illustration techniques inspired by classical art, modern installations, photography, and ongoing fashion exhibitions. Visit renowned museums and cultural landmarks, from Monet’s masterpieces to contemporary works like Buren’s columns, while focusing on self-expression and personal narrative. This course encourages students to draw inspiration from Paris’s artistic landscape and channel their unique stories into their fashion illustrations.

Prerequisites

A curious mindset and a willingness to experiment with different artistic approaches. No previous drawing or fashion experience required.
