July 24 is International Self-Care Day and here at PCA we think it is extremely important to mark this occasion! Here we outline some ways you could take extra special care of yourself today, and why not every day?!
The International Self-Care Foundation identifies seven pillars that contribute towards good self-care:
- Knowledge and Health Literacy
- Mental well-being, Self-Awareness and Agency
- Physical activity
- Healthy eating
- Risk avoidance or mitigation
- Good hygiene
- Rational and responsible use of self-care products and services
Check out their website for ideas of how to keep all these elements in check!
To get started why not go for a run or take a walk in one of Paris’ many beautiful parks. A yoga class can help to relieve stress, or if you’re not feeling up to any physical exertion, check out TED’s compilation of the best talks on self-care.
If you are in Paris for the summer and you feel like all your friends are away, check out the meet-up website. It’s full of events for all budgets, and a great way to meet new people. If you feel like you are stuck in a rut it’s also a great way to discover new places and new activities.
New (academic) year, new you? Why should new year’s resolutions only be made on the 31st December? Why not use the holiday, and the start of the new academic year, as an opportunity to set yourself new goals and get round to doing all those things you’ve been putting off?
Looking for something to do to add to your CV during the holidays? Volunteering is a great way to give back, and improve your French along the way!
