Paris College of Art was established as an independent degree-granting institution with the mission to:
1) provide the highest international standard of art and design education taught within an American pedagogical paradigm while being influenced, informed and drawing from our French/European environment and
2) open up French educational opportunities to the world and international education to the French.
La VAE permet à toute personne ayant au moins 3 ans d’expérience de faire reconnaitre officiellement ses compétences par l’obtention d’un diplôme ou d’un titre à finalité professionnelle.
Passer une VAE au sein de notre école, c’est valoriser un parcours professionnel riche et obtenir un titre certifié par l’Etat de niveau II, inscrit au RNCP.
La Valorisation des Acquis de l’Expérience, c’est l’opportunité d’accéder à un niveau Bac + 3 grâce à la reconnaissance d’une carrière dans la communication.

Paris College of Art vous accompagne dans ce projet, vous aide à la réalisation de votre rapport d’expériences et vous conseille pour préparer votre soutenance orale. La validation puis l’obtention de la VAE se déroule auprès d’un jury composé de professionnels internes et externes.
Démarche VAE. Elle se divise en 3 grandes étapes:
1. Information du candidat: accueil, remise du “Livret de recevabilité de la demande” Téléchargez le Livret 1
2. Analyse de recevabilité du dossier à réception du Livret 1: l’école examine le dossier et si la demande est recevable, elle remet au candidat le “Livret de présentation des acquis de l’expérience” (Livret 2)
3. Commission VAE (juin): le correspondant VAE constitue la commission de VAE, convoque le jury qui est présidé par le Président. Un mois avant la date prévue: transmission aux membres du jury du dossier du candidat, convocation du candidat pour un entretien devant le Jury.
La validation totale, partielle ou nulle de la certification, sera notifiée par courrier officiel argumenté. Si la validation est partielle, le candidat dispose de 5 ans à compter de la notification pour obtenir la totalité du diplôme, composé d’unités constitutives. Pour cela, il peut choisir: – soit, de suivre un parcours de formation et passer la ou les épreuves du diplôme correspondant aux fonctions non validées. – soit, de prolonger ou diversifier son expérience professionnelle et refaire une demande de VAE sur les fonctions non validées.
The Commission Nationale des Certifications Professionnelles (CNCP) evaluates the knowledge, abilities and skills taught in PCA’s visual communications programs. They also assess the relevance of the skills our students acquire in relation to the needs of the labor market. The French degree in Visual Communication (CNCP Level II FR, 6 EU) is recognized as equivalent to a French University Licence (Bachelor’s Degree).

Paris College of Art is recognized as an Erasmus Chapter University under the code Erasmus F Paris 408.
PCA seeks to establish intercultural educational opportunities for its students as well as make its own educational programs accessible to talented students regardless of their country of origin or socio-economic status. To further these goals, PCA’s international strategy is to create agreements for educational exchange with art, design, business and liberal arts colleges in as many countries as possible. PCAaccomplishes this through bilateral exchange agreements, study abroad agreements, co-taught faculty-led workshops, and class project collaborations.
PCA chooses the institutions with which it works primarily based on the following criteria: accreditation: reputation in the home country; types of academic programs offered; curriculum for each relevant program; faculty accomplishments; and studio and technological resources available. Depending on the type of agreement PCAseeks to create, it also considers the student services offered and safety of the surrounding environment of the prospective partner institution.
PCA prides itself on the cultural diversity of its student population. In a given semester, there are typically 45 to 50 nationalities represented in PCA’s student body of 300 students. PCA seeks to strategically expand its network of international partner institutions into regions where it does not currently have partnerships, while maintaining its unique student diversity. PCA is currently focused on expanding its network into Africa, Eastern Europe, the Middle East, Southeast Asia, Turkey, and the west coast of the United States. Additionally, PCA would like to extend its partner network to include institutions worldwide that offer business programs that compliment PCA’s Bachelor of Arts degree in Design Management to create additional opportunities abroad for students in this degree program.
The most important objective for PCA in terms of student mobility is finding institutions that offer rigorous academic programs throughout the academic year (fall and spring semesters) that compliment those of PCA. For PCA, successful student mobility programs are those in which students are exposed to courses not offered at their home institution while simultaneously allowing students to take the courses necessary for timely completion of their degree program. PCA seeks to accomplish this for both inbound and outbound students. With regards to faculty mobility, the most important objective is to expose PCA students to new professors with diverse perspectives, while encouraging our professors to connect with a new student population. Faculty mobility most frequently occurs during the summer program.
PCA encourages faculty, staff and student cooperation between Institutions. The Guest Lecture series invites faculty from around the world to teach a workshop or lecture at PCA (for example: Carlos Rosa from lADE) and PCA staff and faculty participate in lectures/conferences at partner universities (for example: PCADirector of Research’s lecture at Universidad de Monterrey, Mexico and Bezalel University, Israel). During the summer, partner university’s faculty are invited to teach in our Summer Program (for example in 2013: SVA faculty). Summer joint programs have been implemented in the past (with Sorbonne, Lesage, NABA). Joint research collaborations and student projects are encouraged at PCA (for example, with Université de Paris 1 Pantheon-Sorbonne).
The international educational community is invited to conferences hosted at PCA(for example: Designer’s Day, Art School Educated/Tate Research) as well as the call for papers for our research publication (Collection).
Our relationships with the greatest cultural institutions in Paris allow students to have access to research opportunities and resources beyond PCA (Centre George Pompidou, Bibliothèque Kandinsky, Les Arts Décoratifs, Centre de Recherche du Château de Versailles).
We expect participation in the Programme to help us address the 5 objectives of the Modernization Agenda as follows:
1. Increase attainment levels to provide the graduates and researchers that Europe needs: We attract and train an international and highly mobile student population and our graduates work all across Europe. By offering 30% of our students scholarships and financial aid, we ensure socio-economic diversity in our student body;
2. Improve the quality and relevance of higher education: By teaching professional and IT skills and engaging students in real-life projects with industry partners we prepare them for their future careers;
3. Strengthening quality through mobility and cross-border cooperation: We train students from varied international backgrounds and encourage further mobility through study-abroad experiences and an international faculty;
4. Making the knowledge triangle work: We link higher education, research and local French businesses through industry sponsored course projects, student internships, partnerships with local cultural institutions and continued faculty professional development promoting innovation in teaching;
5. Improving governance and funding: We are expanding funding sources through development and fundraising efforts and strategic planning and key decisions are taken by a small and reactive board of trustees. Participation in the Programme will increase our visibility and our appeal for donors and potential board members.
