Join us for a new PCA Photography Lunch Talk on September 14, 2021 at 1 PM CET, to hear from Kaamna Patel, visual artist and published bookmaker.

Kaamna is currently based in Mumbai, her home city. She launched her publishing imprint JOJO with her book ‘In Today’s News: Alpha Males Women Power’ in Mumbai in May 2019 which was part of Fast Forward’s list for Photobook of the Year in 2020. Her photobook ‘Dori’ was shortlisted for the Kassel Dummy Book Awards in 2019 and subsequently published in 2020.

Her practice is currently featured in Aperture magazine’s summer issue 2021 and her work has been exhibited in parts of Europe & Asia as both, solo & group shows since 2009.

JOJO has its presence in bookshops & libraries worldwide and has recently expanded its activities into a photobook library and other peripheral activities within contemporary lens-based practices, particularly in India. Multilingual in her approach and working across techniques, her practice has developed around an inquiry into the semiotics & ontology of the image. She is interested in exploring how the periphery of photographic representation gets subsumed within the history of documentation.

Visit Kaamna Patel’s website to view more of her work. Explore JOJO the publishing alias of visual artist Kaamna Patel, dedicated to photobooks and artist books.

Be sure to join us on Zoom on September 14, 2021 at 1 PM CET through this link.
