Liberal Studies Electives are Out of this World!

If you were going to space how would you get there?  And what would your spacesuit be like?  These are some of the questions students in the Astronomy class are considering this semester.  As part of their degree, PCA undergraduate students get to take classes in the Liberal Studies department.  Every semester there is a wide range of classes on offer for students to choose from, allowing them to broaden their horizons and gain inspiration from new sources.

Students in the Astronomy class get to study in-depth the origins and structure of the universe: from the Big Bang to stars, black holes, galaxies, and even life on earth.  The classes are designed to encourage a renewed curiosity and a fresh view of the world.  Students need to combine their art and design skills with a scientific approach, when it comes to designing their spaceships for example.

Here in Paris we are spoiled for choice with a great variety of museums, and we always try to integrate this into our classes to really take advantage.  Field trips for the Astronomy class this semester include the planetarium at Cité des Sciences et de l’Industrie as well as Musée des Arts et Métiers.
