PCA is pleased to announce the president of this year’s Fashion Show jury will be Ece Ege, designer, founder of the brand Dice Kayek and member of the Fédération Française de la Couture.
Ece Ege is a Turkish-French Fashion Designer who established her brand Dice Kayek in Paris in 1992 in collaboration with her sister, Ayse. In 1994, after a first fashion show at the Institut du Monde Arabe, she was awarded the Femme en Or, a prize rewarding the most successful French woman of the year.
Among her many remarkable achievements is the 2003 election of Dice Kayek by the Turkish Undersecretariat of the Prime Ministry for Foreign Trade to be one of the Turkish designer brands to launch the TURQUALITY® branding program. In 2010, Ece Ege was awarded Le Trophée de la Réussite au Féminin prize by the Association France-Euro-Méditerranéefor her endeavors in encouraging interaction between French/European and Turkish cultures.
Three years later, the designer collaborated with director Marie Schuller and the SHOWstudio to create her first fashion film Noir, inspired by film noir and German expressionism, which will be followed by Pearl, Blue, White.
That same year, the artist won the Jameel Prize 3 with her collection Istanbul Contrast, a collection of garments based on Istanbul’s architectural and artistic heritage. The Jameel Prize is an international award for contemporary art and design inspired by Islamic tradition. The past achievements of the Islamic world in art, craft and design are reflected in the work of many contemporary practitioners in these fields. The aims of the Prize are to raise awareness of this new work and to explore it as part of a wider debate about Islamic culture and its role today.1
It is impossible to encapsulate the extent of Ece Ege’s creative work, but it is certain that the PCA Fashion Design class of ’16 will benefit from her wealth of knowledge and experience as they prepare for their Thesis Fashion Show in May!
