WAIR, The First Anti-Pollution Scarf

WAIR, it looks like a regular scarf that keeps you warm or pulls together an outfit. But, in fact it could change the lives of the growing numbers of people who suffer from the increasing levels of air pollution.

Caroline Van Renterghem, came to a “SenseFiction” organized by MakeSense with this idea of creating a scarf to protect against air pollution. In a “SenseFiction” teams have several hours to imagine, create and prototype a social impact project. During the “SenseFiction”, she shared her idea with the team and they were so enthusiastic about it she decided to develop the product. One year later, she won the SwitchUp Challenge 2015. Her project was developed via SenseCube, MakeSense’s incubator, and expanded thanks to the success of her crowdfunding campaign.

This accessory, that combines design, efficiency, comfort and aesthetics, can now be ordered online on www.wair.fr.

PCA and MakeSense have established the MA in Design for Social Impact because we believe that ideas like these need to be nurtured and developed. We provide the platform for you to develop the skills to change the world.

Will you be the next game changer?
