Introduction to Design Practices

This course is an introductory class aimed to equip students with a basic understanding of design practices within the fields of communication design, fashion design and interior design. The class is an excellent opportunity for Foundation students to explore and prepare for the choice of Major they wish to join in the Fall.

Through practical exercises students acquire basic skills and vocabulary relative to color theory; scale and proportion; rhythm, balance and harmony; form, surface and light, while aiming to address visual and functional problem-solving in two-dimensional and three-dimensional space.

The role of the contemporary designer in terms of social and environmental responsibility will be approached and discussed during the course, through readings, critical analysis and debate.
