The PCA Foundation Department has organized a series of Lunch Talks all throughout September! They are designed to foster knowledge, sharing and casual conversation with PCA’s Department Chairs, Alumni and artists from a variety of disciplines. Lunch Talks are open to all!

Lunch Talk with Barbara Montefalcone, Chair of Liberal Studies
Our next lunch talk will be on Tuesday, September 24, from 1-2 pm in Room 102, featuring Barbara Montefalcone, Chair of Liberal Studies and Art History. Barbara is literature and art historian specialized in the relationship between modern and contemporary poetry and painting through the tradition of artist’s books.She will discuss the importance of liberal studies and art history classes, highlighting their critical role in art and design.
Snacks and refreshments will be provided.
Barbara’s bio
Education
After studying literature and foreign languages as an undergraduate in Italy, Barbara has pursued her studies abroad attending University of Warwick (UK), Université Lyon 2 (France) and Brown University (USA). Barbara has an MA and a PhD in American studies from Université Lyon 2 and is the author of “The Eye & the Company “a PhD thesis that was partly written under the supervision of Robert Creeley in 2004.

Parsons Paris, Université Paris Ouest Nanterre-La Défense, Université Lyon 3, and Université de Caen. In Paris Barbara also works as an educator for Paris Muse Education Group and is a consultant for the Terra Foundation for American Art Europe.
Lunch Talk with Ari Jiménez, BFA Fine Arts, Class of '20
The PCA community is invited to a guest talk on Wednesday, September 25, featuring PCA Graduate Ari Jiménez. Ari will share insights into their artistic practice, experiences as a PCA student, and life as a practicing artist in Paris after graduation. The talk will take place from 1:00 to 2:00 PM in Room 102, and refreshments will be served.
Ari’s bio
Ari Jiménez (she/they) is a Venezuelan interdisciplinary artist and storyteller based in Paris, France. Their practice includes fine arts as Gloomy Boyish, tattoo as Gloomy Tattoo, and newly, ceramics Gloomy Pots. Their practice is rooted on their lived experience of the displacement of their home through migration growing up in Venezuela and Egypt, their mental health journey and being a member of the LGBTQ+ community. Their work is focused on the process of enacting memory and reimagining another realm for their inner child as they navigate the difficulties in their life. Where empathy, compassion and release are vehicles for their work. They received a BFA in Fine Art at Paris College of Art in 2020 and are currently pursuing a new path to their Gloomy universe in art direction through communication design.
