WE’RE SCREAMING FOR MEGOJA PLATA

Megija Plata, BFA in Photography ’25 from Riga, Latvia tells us why she chose Paris & PCA. “The first thing I did was acknowledge what I want to study (Photography), I found two options & I chose Paris, as it has always screamed art, style, and development. PCA offers a range of different studies, which are not only based on one subject, and it is possible to explore different areas of art – that was intriguing for me & honestly still is.” Foundation is just this. Plata continues, “I love that we can do a lot of things, not only the form of art we are interested in; we can explore & develop our skills in different studios, like working with saws or doing ceramics – there is much more a person can learn than they can imagine.”

Here’s the rest!

What are you hoping to learn in your program?

I am looking forward to having different perspective on things, because how else can a person do that better if not with open-minded and experienced professors, and students with a lot of great ideas around. So far, I have already gained so much from everyone I have met, everything we have done in our classes, and I hope it continues like that.

What excites you most about your Foundation program at PCA?

I love that we can do a lot of things, not only the form of art we are interested in. We can explore and develop our skills in different studios, like working with saws or doing ceramics – there is much more a person can learn than they can imagine.

What’s your area of focus moving forward at PCA?

Definitely photography! That is the reason I am here!

What are you most excited about living/studying in Paris?

Meeting and seeing a lot of people from different cultures, with different beliefs, style and way of thinking. The best way to have a different point of view for yourself is to talk with someone… only one conversation can affect you, and you can get into other’s shoes, to see the world as they do. It is something truly phenomenal.

Plata is featured in the February Edition of the LOOP newsletter focused on our Foundation and Pathway program at PCA.
