Redress Design Award 2021: a Chance to Showcase your Work at Hong Kong’s Fashion Week

Apply to the Redress Design Award before March 15, 2021 to try to win several prizes and a chance to showcase your work during Hong Kong’s Fashion Week.
The Redress Design Award is the world’s largest sustainable fashion design competition. Organised by Redress, the competition works to educate emerging fashion designers around the world about sustainable design theories and techniques to drive growth towards a circular fashion system. By putting sustainable design talent in the global spotlight, the competition creates a unique platform for passionate and talented fashion game-changers to transform the global fashion industry and rewards the best with career-changing prizes to maximise long-term impact.
Each competition cycle takes participants on an educational journey lasting several theory and design-packed months. We challenge participants to flex their creative genius and prove they have the ingenuity and conviction to transform textile waste into stunning, scalable and commercially viable collections that will inspire and re-dress the world.
The top ten finalists will be selected to come to Hong Kong to take part in sustainable fashion educational activities and showcase their collections at HKTDC Hong Kong’s Fashion Week CENTRESTAGE.
What you have to do:
You are challenged to design a contemporary collection for a modern, fashion-forward adult who is concerned about the environment. Your collection will rescue textile waste, re-using these through upcycling while reimagining fashion, which will likely influence your creativity and processes.
There are multiple prizes on offer for the 2021 cycle with a development fund pot of HK$80,000 (US$10,000) to be distributed to the highest scoring finalists. All finalists and semi-finalists will receive educational and career enhancing prizes.
What you can win:
– The First Prize winner will join VF’s Timberland team for a design collaboration, and will be awarded HK$50,000 (US$6,400) in development funding and other supporting prizes.
– The Runner-up Prize winner will be mentored by Orsola de Castro and will be awarded HK$15,000 (US$1,900) in development funding, and more.
*As a bonus, applicants to the Redress Design Award 2021 competition cycle will receive extended access to the Redress Design Award Pathway Course content until the competition closing date of March 15, 2021 when registering to the application system.
