 Tuesday, October 1 | Fashion: Exploring Careers with Lucas Maethger

 Join Lucas Maethger, Chair of the Fashion Department, as he introduces the dynamic world of fashion and shares insights into the numerous career opportunities available in the field. Whether you’re interested in design, marketing, or trend analysis, this session will provide a broad overview of what the fashion industry has to offer.

Education
MA in Fashion Design from the Royal Academy of Fine Arts (Antwerp, Belgium) in 2003

Work History
Specialized in Men’s wear, Lucas worked as the head of design for Antonio Miro (Spain), Dirk Bikkembergs (Belgium) and Celio (France), while creating his own company By Lucas / L&A Maethger, designing an avant-garde men’s wear line that serves as a creative lab for fashion visions, statements and innovations with a focus on fashion film. Two of these films were part of the official selections in fashion film festivals in Turkey, Paris, Miami and Mexico City.
Maethger also developed his role as a consultant in trend forecasting and creative direction with ready to wear and luxury men’s wear, helping them define their brand identity, designing capsule or full collections, researching trends and analyzing markets.
The designer is not new to Paris College of Art, he used to organize the End-of-Year Fashion shows while teaching the senior collection/ concept development course, as well as investigative research, work methods and fashion strategies, from 2011 to 2016. Maethger has also taught at SCAD (Savannah College of Art & Design), in the USA, and LISAA (L’Institut Supérieur des Arts Appliqués) in Paris, where he still holds a position of adjunct faculty.

 Tuesday, October 8 | Communication Design: Career Paths with Lucrezia Russo

 Discover the creative and versatile world of communication design with Lucrezia Russo, Chair of the Communication Design Department. In this talk, Lucrezia will showcase how a degree in communication design can open doors to various career paths, from branding and advertising to digital media and interactive design.

Russo participated in a two-day international conference on traditional and innovative design practices using letterpress printing is taking place in Porto on the 30th and 31st January. She presented research she was conducted and compiled into essay.  The conference reflected on the current status of letterpress practice and research nowadays.  Russo’s work is entitled Resisting hyper-digitalisation: the re-appropriation of the printed object in contemporary design.
